The Library of Islands

Abaton programme

31.05.2018

→ Thursday 31.05.2018, 18:30h

Abaton is one of the cities mentioned in the Dictionary of Imaginary Places, by Alberto Manguel and Gianni Guadalupi, and in the book many of the other collected cities are islands. In the framework of "Abaton" and taking advantage of some thematic coincidences with the curatorial project "The Possibility of an Island", an exhibition programme curated by Alexandra Laudo at Espai 13, Fundació Joan Miró, which explores some of the symbolic and sociocultural meanings the islands have had over time through the projects of five artists, the Blueproject Foundation and the Fundació Joan Miró organize a session of The Library of Islands.

The Library of Islands is an activity of reading and discussion of texts related to the theme of the exhibition programme at Espai 13. On this occasion, it will be precisely one particular island, the Concret Island, by J. G. Ballard, which will articulate the literary meeting presented by Víctor García Tur, specialist in the work of Ballard, and chaired by Alexandra Laudo. Besides this book, it is also recommended the reading of Terminal Beach, by the same author, which can be read here.

The activity is free. It is recommended to confirm the assistance through the e-mail info@blueprojectfoundation.org or by phone 93 182 4371. It is not indispensable, but it is highly recommended to read the proposed titles before attending the activity.
